Casting for a Black Love Documentary

We are Emarjay Films a new video production company at the University of Florida and currently we are in the process of looking for people who would be interesting in being casted in our Documentary about Black Love. Members from FISS are working with us and we are hustling to have this project done by February 14th (Valentines Day). 

Runaway Bloopers

Creating this film was one of the most trying experiences all three of us have ever encountered. Runaway started out as a class final project Shaniqua had to complete by the end of the Fall Semester. She partnered with a girl...(let's call her Anna).

Anna wasn't doing any work leaving Shaniqua to write the script by herself. After she was done Anna read the script and was a little apprehensive about having an all African American cast -____- ANYWAYS...

Casting Call!

The casting call turned out to be amazing! We weren't expecting it, but we caught the eye of people of all different size, shape and color! These two jokesters here had to act out a confrontation scene and knocked the painting off the wall in the art gallery #icant! All the main roles have been assigned all we need now is

Let the record show! Emarjay films just struck a deal with CMays Photography! >=) A week ago Ashley was visiting our dear mentor, and well  renown  photographer,  Carey Mays. When a negotiable deal came across the table he said we (Emarjay) could name a price and they'd be paying! Today we discussed the time commitment and what locations we were planning to film at BUT...

TOGA! TOGA! Ready set Frolic!

So this year's BSU Homecoming theme was Greece! And what's a Greek theme without Togas!?! Shooting this video was fun but it was also a race against the sun. When we initially got there the wind was blowing, the birds were chirping and those DARN campus squirrels kept running into our shots! But in the end we got what we came for.

SHADES

The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) emailed us about doing a video early on in the semester. We gladly jumped on the project and couldn't wait to get started. Little did we know what we were getting ourselves into with this one. Full day long interviews and hunting for b-roll (extra footage) on our Fridays was how we spent most of our weekends while shooting this film but we also got Emarjay Quality Time Lol. 

Our First Video Together

The Black Student Union gave us our first opportunity to show UF what we could do. While creating this video we learned that you can't include everything and you can't omit relevant history. But that was very hard being that everything seemed relevant and so many names and accolades should have been added but that would have dragged out the video. Our solution for this was to create a re-enactment video of UF's history. #FutureEmarjayFilmIdea (c)
